The Arts In Today's Economy A New Paradigm
Join us from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13th for a challenging discussion concerning the struggles that artists and arts organizations are facing in this difficult economic climate.
Seattle has a long history of supporting the arts and arts neighborhoods. However, the question still remains: What happens to the artists and arts organizations in what has become the worst economy in decades?
We are witnessing a new paradigm that is just starting to take shape. What can be done to continue to foster the artists and arts organizations that have added so much value to our communities?
In the past year, City Council stepped into gear by forming CODAC - the Cultural Overlay District Advisory Council. The findings were released this spring. How do we go beyond CODAC?
We don't have to imagine what our neighborhoods would be like without our vibrant arts organizations and artists. We have already witnessed the decline on Capitol Hill and in other neighborhoods. More and more ground floor vacancies are visible every day. How can we work with property owners to enhance those vacancies?
Please join us for a lively conversation about what can be done. Light refreshments will be served. Event Location: Private Residence Deborah Daoust & Randy Apsel 3804 E. Pike St. RSVP: 206.624.0433 | 7-9 PM Allied Arts Beer and Culture Nights
Allied Arts was founded in 1954 under the name of "The Beer and Culture Society." More than fifty years later, we still like that name so we're honoring it with our "Beer and Culture Nights."
By convening groups of smart, energetic and public-spirited citizens in an informal setting and providing snack food, beer and a hot topic, we hope to inspire free-ranging and uninhibited discussion that will be enormously fun and can lead to civic action.
Suggested Donation: $20.00. Free to low-income. All donations appreciated, regardless of size. Your contribution supports Allied Arts.
